Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford (born April 14th, 1980) was an American actor, singer and dancer. Her first Broadway performances, she starred the role of Essie Carmichael in Wicked Legally Blonde Hair. The Tony Award was given to Ashford for her performance as Essie Carmichael from You Can't Take It With You. Annaleigh Ashford is a Tony Award winner actor has worked with a variety of famous directors and actors on stage and screen. The award-winning actress continues her career with her upcoming projects. Ashford can be seen next in the role of Kumail Nanjiani in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford has been working on Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust with Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. The film will be available on Disney's DTC platforms as a Hulu Original. Ashford will be seen as Josh Groban on Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre for the upcoming March 2023 production of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail, director and producer of Hamilton will direct the production. Ashford's most recent performance was Paula Jones on Ryan Murphy FX's American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the National scandal that featured Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky, as well as Linda Tripp. Ashford appeared for two seasons in the CBS hit comedy B Positive. Created by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the series also starred legendary performers Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her role as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. Sunday in the Park with George Wicked legally blonde and the original role of Lauren In Kinky Boots were among her other Broadway roles.
